Mike Penner, a 49-year-old Los Angeles Times sports writer, has just come out as transgender, and will return to work as Christine Daniels after his vacation.
Fortunately, this is going over much better than the Steve Stanton fiasco. Being LGBT and a sports writer is NOT easy, given all the machismo in the world of professional sports (and their fans), but I am glad that the Los Angeles Times is showing support.
